Appraisals During the COVID19 Pandemic

Appraisals are restarting in October 2020 with some important differences

  • The emphasis is on support during these difficult times

  • Your do not need to gather the same amount of supporting information as normal

  • Those whose revalidation was due this year, have had the date extended. You still need to engage in appraisals.

Some things remain the same

  • You will receive notification from RMS (revalidation management system) telling you when your appraisal is due

  • Contact your appraiser early to make an appointment - preferably before the 3rd reminder from RMS. Most people don't like the next step: a letter from the GMC

  • In exceptional circumstances, you can ask to miss an appraisal. Let your appraiser know as soon you can. The local appraisal team will contact you for more details.

For more information for both appraisers and appraisees, pull down Appraisals from the menu above.

We hope that you find all the information you need to support you. We cannot guarantee that it is up to the minute because changes are frequently made. Please revisit these pages
